Self-Help Resources

There are a wide variety of self-help resources online that have been developed for people to help themselves in improving their health and wellbeing. The websites presented below are just a few of these and although they are helpful for some people they will not be helpful for everyone.

  • A great resource in which you can access CBT self help material targeting depression & low mood.

  • An Australian website offering a number of excellent information sheets on a range of common mental health concerns
  • It also offers a series of self help modules designed to target specific concerns.
  • These modules can be used independently or supported by a therapist.

  • National Youth Mental Health Fondation. Lots of great links with plenty of information for young people & parents.

  • This New Zealand website fronted by former All Black John Kirwan, provides information about depression.
  • It also teaches and guides you through the use of a range of techniques for helping to overcome depression, many of which are closely linked to CBT approaches.

  • This New Zealand website is for young people who are suffering from depression.
  • It helps people to learn a variety of CBT techniques for depression, presented in a format designed for use by teenagers and young adults.
