Melissa is a skilled Clinical Psychologist with 14 years of experience, having trained in South Africa and currently registered to practice in New Zealand. Throughout her career, Melissa has demonstrated a commitment to providing evidence-based psychological services, utilizing a person-centered approach tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
In South Africa, Melissa specialized in working with individuals on the autism spectrum, collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams to conduct comprehensive assessments and provide psycho-education to families and educators. She was also part of a clinic focused on addiction treatment, where she facilitated both individual and group sessions. In this role, she helped clients better understand addiction, develop relapse prevention strategies, build healthier social behaviors, and enhance coping skills.
Since relocating to New Zealand in 2020, Melissa has worked extensively within secondary mental health services for adults and older adults. She has provided individual therapy for a wide range of mental health conditions, alongside facilitating skill-building groups focused on mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, anxiety, and depression.
